A Review on the MET 2011 GALA- Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

In one of fashion's biggest events, the MET Gala where designers, models, celebrities and musicians meet to show off their stuff.

This year's theme was entitled Alexander Mcqueen: Savage Beauty in apt homage to his work.

So here is a run down of this years best and worst... let me know which is which!

Miranda Kerr channeling a Prima  Ballerina- Not too sure if this is 'Savage' enough for me.
Taking time away from her new son, Flynn, <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/galleries/model_mothers/model_mothers.html" target="_blank">model mother</a> Miranda Kerr floated across the red carpet in a gown fit for a prima ballerina.

One of the winners for the YFS 'Savage' award goes to Beyonce in this EmilioPucci number.
The dress is exquisite and it shows off her new svelte figure. Wonder if she could walk properly in this sepentina style gown?
Beyonce is always one to embrace her curvacious figure, and her detailed black-and-gold Pucci dress hugged right back. Too bad she and hubby Jay-Z were booed at the gala for failing to stop for photographers, however. But Beyonce wasn't the only leading lady sporting a super tight gown ...

Fergie may have gone for the right designer (I will forever love you Marchesa) but this dress spells "Wedding" much?
It might be figure hugging, but we can't say it's all that flattering. Fergie's fishtail Marchesa gown topped worst dressed lists.

Rosie Huntington's dress is barely there. Does Burberry know when too little it a tad bit too much?
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's barely there silk gown was a custom Burberry. The model also sported a python clutch with matching heels.

Another winner for me was this custom TopShop (oh yes!) Green cut-out dress for Jennifer Goodwin.
Who says great style much accompany a great price?
Ginnifer Goodwin's fashion sense shone through each of her <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/fashion/galleries/slice_and_dice_fashion_cutout_dresses/slice_and_dice_fashion_cutout_dresses.html" target="_blank">cut-outs</a>. Her brightly colored gown was a custom from the every day house, Topshop.

Putting the Capital "S" in Savage. Kurnikova gets it dominatrix-like in this John Paul Gaultier.
Model Karolina Kurkova embodied the 'Savage Beauty' theme in her lacey Jean Paul Gaultier dress.

Very undestated but Savage nevertheless. Taylor Swift goes for a nude and black J. Mendel dress that is a sparkly but gorgeous work of art. Nice!
Taylor Swift debuted a more grown-up (albeit still sparkly!) nude and black J. Mendel couture gown on the red carpet.

I'm not too sure if I am completely sold on this Karl Lagerfield dress for Chanel on Blake Lively.
Its nice no doubt but a little too much going on. Oh well, who says you cant go over board with the MET Gala?
And speaking of muses, bombshell Blake Lively walked the carpet on the arm of Karl Lagerfeld in a daring Chanel Couture dress that draped in all the right places.

Hailee Steinfeld gets it right (at such a young age) with this Stella Mcartney dress.
I love the color, the cut and the design on the fabric.
Can I pleaaaase wear this to work? Haha.
She's becoming a bona fide stunner! 'True Grit' star Hailee Steinfeld donned a Stella McCartney dress and Nicholas Kirkwood platform sandals.

The most Beautiful Woman voted by People. I heart her too. Even more with her fashion choices exhibited via Idol. I don't care if they hate the foliage enveloping her arms! the color and the dress itself is marvelous!
Jennifer Lopez tried to embrace spring - prematurely? - in a hot pink Gucci flower-inspired concoction that lit up the red carpet.

A mature and very elegant Diane Kruger.
I'm supposed to go to a wedding soon. Yey! Love weddings.
Might have a dress made like this. oh yes- black and lace. Not too dark and not too over bearing.
Perfect.
Diane Kruger showed a lot of leg in a daring floor-length Jason Wu dress on the arm of boyfriend Joshua Jackson.

Bride-like or not. I would wear this. The cut, the sparkles and the fabric done very well in all the right places.
Bravo Ashley Green. I'd like to see a dress like this in Philippine shores!
Ashley Greene looked elegant and demure in a nude strapless Donna Karan gown with a fishtail hem.

Sarah Jessica Parker in a McQueen creation.
She looks old. The old 'Here I am' attitude is also gone.
So disappointed. Perhaps we should just bring back Carrie?
Sarah Jessica Parker was one of the select few truly paying tribute to McQueen by wearing one of his designs from 2005.

Ashley Olsen in vintage Dior. Ehhh... Umm... No comment.
Ashley Olsen's vintage (and billowing) Dior look definitely turned a few heads, though we're not sure if they were in the right - or wrong - direction.

Mary Kate in a vintage dress.
Kudos for being herself. I don't actaully mind the mix of Green and Red in this case.
Never mind if it reminds me of Christmas.
Speaking of interesting style ... Mary-Kate Olsen also opted for a vintage dress, looking as eclectic as always.
