Do you Dare to Be: "Different Like Coco"

I love reading books and have been collecting fashion books for quite some time now.
I love the good anecdotes, the uplifting stories on how- indeed, we can all be beautiful and of course, the pictures and illustrations.

I'd like to share with you a book I have come across recently and I am glad to say that it's definitely not your typical run-off the mill fashionsita book because this one is a great bed time story!

In line with the illustrated cover, Different Like Coco is a children's book that urges mothers and daughters alike to learn more about hisotrical fashion figures in a summarized manner- and for the kids (early on in life). It beats having to read a thousand pages of biography and at the same time, allows you to spend more quality time with the little ones. Not only is this book perfect (and educational) for you Chanel loving mothers, it really does have a good lesson (actually a few of them) for little girls.

The book is quite endearing and is definitely something I'll be picking up for my future little gal just to show her how cool mommy is!

I'm glad there are now books for children that are both fashionable and significant. It gives way to realism while still allowing us to dream! Her story truly is inspiring!

Here are a few pages from the book:

Loving the very French illustrations and somewhat muted colors.

Here is a Short Summary of the Book as wriiten by Elizabeth Mathews:

"Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was always different. And she vowed to prove that being different was an advantage! Poor, skinny, and orphaned, Coco stubbornly believed that she was as good as the wealthier girls of Paris. Tapping into her creativity and her sewing skills, she began making clothes that suited her (and her pocketbook) — and soon a new generation of independent working women craved her sleek, comfortable, and practical designs. Now an icon of fashion and culture, Coco Chanel continues to inspire young readers, showing just how far a person can come with spunk, determination, and flair. The rags-to-riches story of Coco Chanel plays out in a wonderful picture-book biography as full of style and spirit as its heroine."

It's not yet available in National, Power Books or Fully Booked but you can order it online via Amazon for USD 11.55 or make a special order for the book in any of these book stores.

Happy Fashionble reading!
What's your favorite fashion book?
